One of my most favorite songs of all time is Picture, by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. I am not a big fan of the country vibe that Sheryl Crow gives off, but this song is so beautiful and sung from the heart it gets me every time. It was a friend of mine who introduced me to this song and every time I hear it I can't help but remember the times we have spent together. Friend, you know who you are, whether you ever see this post or not, do know no matter how far apart life takes us, you will always have a special place in my heart.
It's not my own mistake if I hear everything around me
I do not know if it's just me or there is really a lot going on around. It's so much, so beautiful and so overwhelming I just want to soak everything in. I have never lived my life as I have been this Summer. Just this past Friday after work I went for a wardrobe consultation project for a colleague. We are trying to create a new identity for her through her wardrobe and I am beyond excited.
Over the weekend I spent all Saturday evening at the Toronto Harborfront, listening to beautiful Brazilian tunes, drinking coconut water and browsing stalls by international artisans. Dinner was chicken tostada and cactus salad while the boy had Brazillian grilled chicken and rice. On Sunday I saw a medly of Bengali, Bollywood and Belly Dance performances at the Toronto Dominion Festival of South Asia on Gerrard Street. Ate samosas, pav bhaji and bhelpuri (South Asian street food) to my heart's content. Next weekend is already looking promising with Caribana Gala After Party and Masala Mehendi Masti festival.Can't wait guys....... :)

Do you notice that music and any other form of creativity goes very well together?? I used to be a huge music lover, there was a point in time when I had a background music for every situation in my life. Music got me through the major hurdles of my life, inspiring me, encouraging me, making me dream and urging me to move forward to the light at the end of the tunnel. After a long hiatus music is back in it's loved place in my life. Hope we have a long and fulfilling relationship for years to come.

Sunny skies and long summer days
Summer is truly my favourite season. It comes with so many amazing things, long walks in billowing linen dresses gently turning your skin into a deep shade of golden; relaxing on the beach in Ashbridges Bay in the evening with your feet in the water and sand trickling through your fingers; having flavoured crushed ice, kulfi, fresh watermelon, freshly picked strawberries, sugarcane juice and what not. This Summer has been my best ever and hopefully later this summer I would be able to go to Niagara on a trip, that has always been one of my dreams.

Family Affairs Episode II
So, guess what, my aunt was visiting me a few days ago from the States. She drove up with a friend bringing tonnes of food, new clothes...and loads of fun stories. It's always like Santa Clause visiting when my aunt comes, I really wanna be like her when I grow up.
Anyway, it was a super hot day so I decided to stay cool with one of my brand new ModCloth dresses, part of a shopping spree that I went on recently upon discovering this gem of a store. Yayyyyy. The only problem was the prices, as I still have to continue paying my tuition fees for another year. But I figured every now and then it is more worth it to shell out some money for a versatile, well made piece than 10 cheap items that will fall apart in less than a year. This dress is the most perfect halter dress I have ever worn and the colour is spectacular. It is a tad too long, so I plan to get it shortened so that it sits just above my knee. We went to the Sultan's tent for some French-Moroccan food and then for a wild night of dancing and drag show at El Convento Rico. Shout out to the foodies and serious dancers out there, these two places are ah-mazing for their respective offerings. Might want to check them out next time you're having a night out in town.

Proud to be a part of you Canada
Coming to Canada was one of the hardest things I did in the last 21 years of my life. Not only was it a tough decision uprooting myself from everything that is familiar to me but it was an extremely hard process for a Bengali medium student from Bangladesh to get entry into University of Toronto, one of the best universities in the world. But now when I look back at it all, I know that I'd do it exactly the same way thousand times over again.
Other than being one of the most picturesque countries in the world Canada totally won me over with the love and acceptance it showered on me. I started from zero, a nobody here and today after 3 years and 11 months, I have friends, a pup, an apartment and a lifestyle I created from scratch on my own, all thanks to Canada.
Thank you, Canada for being who you are, I know my papers might not say so, but I truly feel proud to be a Canadian.
